The rounding rule, with examples
| Module average | Overall band |
|---|---|
| 6.125 โ 6.24 | 6.0 |
| 6.25 โ 6.74 | 6.5 |
| 6.75 โ 7.24 | 7.0 |
Example: L 7.5 + R 7.0 + W 6.0 + S 6.0 = 26.5 รท 4 = 6.625 โ 6.5. Add half a band in Writing and you jump to 7.0. That is why Writing is the highest-ROI module to fix first.
Why this matters for your target
- Most universities ask 6.5 with no module under 6.0 โ rounding can save you
- Canada PR streams (CLB 9) need 7.0+ โ plan modules strategically
- Listening is the easiest module to over-score and pull your average up
